She works primarily with Dr. Max Louwerse in the Multimodal Aspects of Discourse (MAD) Lab. She received her MS in cognitive psychology in 2013, working in the Institute for Intelligent Systems at the University of Memphis. Sterling also earned a graduate certificate in Cognitive Science from the University of Memphis. She holds a BA in Cognitive Science (Cognitive Neuroscience Major Emphasis) from Northwestern University, in Evanston, IL. Her research interests are interdisciplinary in nature and include topics such as psycholinguistics, statistical data analysis, semantic representation, embodied/symbolic cognition, cognitive neuroscience, and computational linguistics.
